Key dates in our history
Joseph Baumgarten founds an electrical equipment company. In 1924, the company becomes BACO Constructions Electriques SA (formerly Baumgarten & Compagnie) and specialises in the manufacture of electrical devices (switchboards).
Due to the war, all production means are transferred to Limoges where the activity continues until 1945, at which time BACO returns to Strasbourg.
The company decides to gradually give up its traditional activities in order to specialise in the manufacture of mass equipment such as consumer combined circuit breakers and snap action switches.
The constant development of the company leads to the construction of a new 7500 m² factory on a 30,000 m² site on the Strasbourg-Meinau industrial estate. Two new lines of development are introduced - cam switches and control and signalling devices.
